Here are the Top 10 Things A Blogger Should Already Know… – I saw this post at sunnyduck.com and decided to share it here with you guys. Though the post is already old, it was posted last July 8, 2007. I believe it is still useful for newbie and professional bloggers like me.

1) Content Is King – A focused theme or niche per blog. Well-explained blog entries. Pictures, diagrams, and figures help make blog more dynamic. Podcasts, videos, e-books.

2) Regular Post Frequency – Post often like you change your underwear often! At least 2-3 posts a day minimum.

3) Web 2.0 Style Is A Must - Logo and description in top of blog. Centered blog. 2 or 3 column template. Rich variety of colors that blend well. No clutter. Streamlined navigation experience.

4) Pro-Active Blog Promotion – Submit interesting posts to many social network news sites and social bookmark sites. Contests, link exchanges, RSS feeds, article marketing, trackbacks, pingbacks, backlinks, links in forum signatures and email signatures. Offline marketing. Business Cards. Classifieds and directories submissions.

5) Run Ads/Generate Income – Contextual ads, affiliate ads, referral ads, sponosored ads, auction ads, paid product/service reviews, paid blog/site reviews.

6) Proper Ad Placement – optimal and well-thought out ad placement, filtered ads, and modifying ad colors.

7) SEO- Search engine optimizations and search engine registrations. Increase backlinks for higher Google PR, Alexa rank, and Technorati rank. Keyword targeting. Keyword density. Keyword tagging.

8) Blog Networking – Joining blog communities. Reading and commenting with similar niche blog writers. Keeping up-to-date in the Blogosphere.

9) Personalize Your Blog – include “About Me” section page. Entice reader feedback. Include a “Contact Me” section. Include a self-portrait. Realize, you are branding your blog with your personality. Pre-sell pages for referrals or products/services.

10) Use Hit Counter or Page Statistics – Use Google Analytics or Site Meter to monitor bounce rates, conversion goals, referrers, traffic sources, and ad-clicked pages.
